The Palace of Versailles ( vair-SY, vur-SY; French: Château de Versailles [ʃɑto d(ə) vɛʁsɑj] ) is a former royal residence built by King Louis XIV located in Versailles, about 19 kilometers (12 mi) west of Paris, France.
