Distinguished by Maverick Magazine as a "A Lady of Conviction", Canadian, Folk singer songwriter, Phyllis Sinclair has earned national and international attention for her songs of truth and triumph. Canada's premium Folk, Roots and World Beat magazine, Penguin Eggs described her song North Coast Fisher Wife's Prayer as "positively impressive". Her second album, Fathomless Tales from Leviathan's Hole, earned her a Canadian Aboriginal Music Award nomination for Best Folk Acoustic Album. From this album her song, The Manicure , was selected by Musicians with a Cause to be included in their "More Life in the Years" CD compilation. Her song was selected out of over 350,000 entries world wide. In 2011 she released her third album "Dreams of the Washerwomen". This album was selected by Radio Canada International's Brazilian sector as a best new recording by a Canadian artist in 2011. It also earned her a Best Folk Acoustic Album Award by the 2011 CAMA Awards. Phyllis was nominated as Female Entertainer of the Year by the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards for her extensive national and international tours! Born on the sub-arctic shores of Hudson's Bay, Phyllis Sinclair writes with make-you-think lyrics set to a classic folk vibe. Some songs definitely touch on tough subjects, but are written with deep sensitivity. The late Ron Hynes said of her songs after hearing her in St. John's "good work", and that about sums it up! A professional performer who gives from the heart.

A weathered old farmhouse,
A falling down barn sit silent on the prairie
Where children once played,
Apple pies made to feed the field-tilling weary
But rain, dust and snows, and forty belows,
Not to mention the lure of the cities
Left them alone, there in the cold
With only the fence posts and stones

T’was here long ago, my forefathers sowed
Hope in a young growing land
Turned brush and pulled trees,
Made their hands bleed
Though the soil was littered with sand
Yet courage they found with each post in the ground,
Each stone they pulled from the clay
To build a new home, where peace could be sown,
Among their fence posts and stones

Fence posts and stones live in my bones,
Each one tells a story to me
Of grandfather’s toil on this brown prairie soil,
Among these fence posts and stones

Those who come by here don’t know what I feel,
Just another old farm house they see
But I see my granddad when I was a young lad,
Looking down from his tractor at me
All day we’d work on in the hot burning sun,
Sowing oats or barley or hay
This place is my home, I’ve no need to roam,
Away from these fence posts and stones

Fence posts and stones live in my bones,
Each one tells a story to me
Of grandfather’s toil on this brown prairie soil,
Among these fence posts and stones

Time has marched on now, I stand here alone
Looking out on a rich field of green
The fence posts that stand, the stones on the land
Pay homage to grandfather’s dream
It’s here I was born and its here I will die,
Its lifeblood runs through my veins
And when I’m called home, just bury my bones
Below these fence posts and stones

Fence posts and stones will live in my bones,
Each one tells a story of me
Of love lost and won when my day is done
Among these fence posts and stones

So when I’m called home,
Just bury my bones below these fence posts and stones
Below these fence posts and stones,

A weathered old farm house, a falling down barn, sit silent on the prairie
