Ph.D. was a British group best known for their UK Top 10 hit "I Won't Let You Down", [1] in April 1982, although the song had been successful the previous year across Europe. The band got its name from the initial letters of the surnames of its three members: Phillips, Hymas and Diamond. The name was written in such a way as to be a pun denoting a PhD degree (Ph.D. = Doctor of Philosophy).
