Jordi Baizan is a first generation American and native Texan songwriter. He has played hundreds of shows in the US, Canada, and Europe and released his sixth record in February of 2022. His songwriting, which American Songwriter (USA) has called “exquisite”, has garnered him recognition from several prestigious songwriting competitions including the Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition, the Songwriter Serenade Competition, and the South Florida Folk Festival’s Singer/Songwriter Competition. Signed in 2019 by Berkalin Records, label owner Brian J. Kalinec says "Jordi's songs convey authenticity perfectly intertwined with memorable melodies. His unique voice and his stories draw you in from the beginning, and you can't wait to hear the next page.” Jordi’s 2019 album, Free and Fine, inspired Lonestar Time (Italy) to welcome Jordi “into the great family of true troubadours”. His latest album, The Love in You (2022), reached both the Folk DJ (USA) and Euro-Americana (Europe) charts at its release in February.

Monday morning rush on the Uptown Line 
Bodies press and sway, the train car rumbles and whines 
Tired of staring at the phone, I looked up 
I saw lipstick on the lid of a coffee cup 
The cheekbone scar, the lotus tattoo were clues to solve the mystery of you 
At Columbus Circle, you turned to get off 
I couldn’t help wondering if it could’ve been us, could’ve been us

Later that year in the neighborhood store 
You were checking out just one register over 
I noticed the tomatoes, the nectarines, your skin, 
And that guy that you were with, who was more than just a friend 
The way you looked into in his eyes was like morphine for pain 
The brush of your fingers like a warm summer rain 
The two of you fit like a hand in a glove 
I couldn’t help wondering if it could’ve been us, could’ve been us

Grown-ups aren’t supposed to be lost in childish reverie 
But maybe daydreams teach us what we really need

We got a little snow.  Took Jack out for a walk
I saw you standing on a front stoop, arms wrapped around a box 
You lugged it down the stairs, to the back of a van 
It was clear to me that Brooklyn was no longer in your plans 
A voice came from the front seat, “Ok Jessica, let’s drive” 
You smiled as you passed me on the passenger side 
I mustered, “Have a good one”. The engine started up 
I couldn’t help wondering if it could have been us
