Kontras

We are Kontras - an Afrikaans Punk/Rock band that is planning on creating a commotion within the local rock scene. Our first EP, titled ‘Side A’ includes the singles; ‘Kopstamp’, a punk-driven experience drenched in controversial imagery, sound and lyrical content, laying the foundation for the story that’s to follow. The second track ‘Middelklas Middelman’, expands on the story of the average day dualistic individual soul driven to just survive in the chaos we call reality. The third and final track ‘Skiet Reënboë op Fascisme’ delivers a message of independence and calls for a better understanding of the dystopian society and the embracement thereof. Drawn together by a combination of diverse yet homogeneous harmonies and lyrics, ‘Side A’ sets the scene for a strangely balanced musical experience. Although we are an Afrikaans band in the current day and age, we feel that we are not merely limited to the direct South African market, but also to a broad community of expats. Ranging from young adults who grew up with MKTV playing in their houses, to old-school rock 'n roll fans, we have something to offer to all of them.
