Kevin Coem

My name is Kevin Coem, I'm a self-taught singer-songwriter, music producer, composer, lyricist and arranger. Which means that I basically work on songs from start to end, all by myself. "Kevin" is my real name, while "Coem" means 'honest' and it comes from "Cóemgein", which is the original form of 'Kevin' in Old Irish. I don't pronounce it like it should sound in Old Irish though, so after anglicizing the word it sounds just like the word 'poem', switching the P with a C. I was born on April 29 in Valencia (Spain), and I spent many years using audio editing software as a kid. It almost seemed like a game, but I eventually developed some kind of music skill that helped me start composing my own songs by the time I was around 19. I learned English and Japanese by myself, and after studying more about music, audio edition and different genres, I entered an audition for the Japanese TV show "J-MELO" on NHK World, which I passed, by the way! Together with singer Ai Takekawa, guitarist Marty Friedman, and 2 more international musicians, we created a song called "The only star" as a music project for that show. I started releasing my own songs in Japanese language under the name "kevn" in 2012, and I lived amazing experiences thanks to that music career, such as being interviewed in radio and TV, being on newspapers, taking part in different cultural exchange events, and performing live in both Spain and Japan. I even held my own live tour in Japan... 2 years in a row! I also got support from some Japanese singers, like the May J., who hosts the show I passed an audition for, as well as other singers such as Nana Tanimura and Miho Fukuhara. But in 2015, after releasing 11 singles and 4 albums, I decided to stop my music activities in Japanese. I thought it was a great chance to look for a change, and start over. So I changed my stage name to "Kevin Coem", I stop
