Jesse Daniel Edwards

Jesse Daniel Edwards is an award-winning songwriter based in East Nashville. Apart from his work as a solo artist, he spent five years on the road with The Smart Brothers, releasing 4 recordings and performing with the likes of First Aid Kit and Jason Mraz. As a young songwriter, Jesse relocated to Nashville where he became a protege of Al Bunetta (John Prine, Oh Boy Records). Honing his art busking outside of honky tonks and writing on Music Row in the years that followed, JDE crafted his raw talent into the passionate vocals and smart lyrics that would become his signature style. Favoring a DIY approach in the vein of Elliot Smith or Conor Oberst, Jesse’s heartfelt indie folk and alt-country sound has endured with his fans through his self-produced recordings and demos, along with his engaging live performances. His music has been featured in radio, TV, and independent films and is available on Netflix, Spotify (featured artist), and Apple Music.

Kind of Girl You Bring Home to Mom

ASCAP

If mama was here tonight
I think she would like you
I'm not just saying that,
I really do
Maybe it's the way you put her whole family at ease,
so easily
Or the way you put down that whiskey

She don't drink too much
And she don't drink too little
When she rides with the guys
She fine sitting in the middle
She's always right
But she knows when she's wrong
She's the kind of girl you'd bring home to mom

If all my fading photographs came to life tonight
I think they'd approve,
of me and you
You're never gonna have to meet my ghosts face to face
I promised you,
I promise you

She don’t dream too big and and she don't dream too little
When she hides the smile in her eyes we all guess the riddle
She's always around but you notice when she's gone
She's the kind of girl you'd bring home to mom

You don't want it too bad and you don't need it too little
When you ride by my side it puts us both in the middle
You're always on my right
no matter what road I’m on,
You're the kind of girl I'd bring home to mom
She's the kind of girl you’d bring home to mom
