For the life of me, I can't remember your name
No, for the life of me, can't believe your the same
individual, who once pulled me out of despair
Claimed you'd always care, then Poof --vanished
into thin air

So now to save my soul I can't recall your name
I shouldn't blame myself, as friends readily exclaim
I may need to refresh your memory, what it is you
did to me
Yes, it was a while ago, I admit
But the pit in my stomach remains
so I'll run it by you, once again
Or are you going to run and hide
as true of yesterday

Guess you didn't realize when you rescued me
from that burning building
The chill running down my spine filled me with hope
Silly me to think you'd never leave
So don't blame me if your name now escapes my
grasp

Memories fade, play themselves out, though can
leave a gaping hole, that remains for a very long time 
Eventually love grows cold, sinks like a stone
Along with all that belongs to you
including personal identity

So for the life of me, can't remember who you are
Please give me a little hint, you know memory may 
not be cemented in place
Wait a minute! it's on the tip of my tongue
Ah yes, I remember now

Some things one never forgets, though may
ultimately come to regret
