Uncle Ticky

Uncle Ticky, born Thokozani Mulela on September 13th, 1999, is a talented Zambian artist, producer, and songwriter. While he initially showed little interest in music and leaned towards video games and drawing during his younger years, Uncle Ticky's exposure to his parents' harmonizing gospel hymns planted the seed of musical appreciation within him. Two pivotal moments shaped Uncle Ticky's deep passion for music. The first was the impact of Akon's 2006 hit "Put The Blame On Me," which resonated with him. The second was when his father introduced him to FL Studio 3 in 2008, sparking his curiosity and setting him on a musical journey. However, it was J. Cole's 2011 record "Nobody's Perfect" that solidified his love for rap and composition. Uncle Ticky's first studio experience occurred in 2012, marking the beginning of his musical endeavours. Since then, he has become a prominent figure among the new generation of Zambian artists, eager to contribute to and revolutionize the Zambian Music Industry. With three projects under his belt, Uncle Ticky has showcased his versatility as a producer, writer, performer, and composer. His works include the mixtapes '1st $hade Of Blaq' (2018) and 'Hall Of Me' (2020), as well as the EP 'Tickaholic' (2022). These projects reflect Uncle Ticky's dedication to crafting his own sound and pushing creative boundaries. Uncle Ticky's music has garnered widespread attention, propelled by the viral success of his hit single 'Planga.' He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Zambian Hip Hop Pioneer Holstar, Sean Trey, Soul Marley from Nigeria, and Bbanner, a Zambian-based artist in Perth. More recently, Uncle Ticky showcased his diverse talents by contributing to the musical scores for Mix Kasamwa's Web Series, TILU, alongside Macknight and Sean Trey. Driven by a desire to make a lasting impact and bring change to the Zambian Music Industry, Uncle Ticky continues to evolve as an artist. His distinct style, combined with his passion and dedication, positions him as a promising force in the music scene. As Uncle Ticky's musical journey unfolds, the world eagerly awaits the next chapter of his artistic expression.

If mountains can move with the faith you believe in
Failure to win doesn't come with a reason
Why should I suffer, constantly grieving
When I can grow my own garden of Eden
So today's the day, oh ye-eh-ah
That I pick myself from the ground
Everybody gotta change, oh ye-eh-ah
I know a better way cause the secret has been found
Invest in yourself using Africa's wonders
Entrepreneurship, it's all around us
Open your eyes, endurance, and focus
I guarantee we're returning triumphant

Ngoma zilile (Ouuu-uuu, He-e-yeah)
Ma Penga yalile (Ouuu-uuu, He-e-yeah)

Africa yathu (Oh-oh-ohh-ohhh)
We can achieve all we want to (Oh-oh-ohh-ohhh)
If we unite together as one
Brothers and Sisters under the sun
The world is in our hands; we can never be weak
Now tell em say Africa Must Think

You got your talents and gifts
Why should you starve?
Your brain and your limbs
A dream in your heart
Nisebenzela daily
And this sweat will assure you
A better tomorrow's here
Whether you're an elder or youth
You are Africa's child
Now everybody go pick up your tools
And let's make Mama proud

Ngoma zilile (Ouuu-uuu, He-e-yeah)
Ma Penga yalile (Ouuu-uuu, He-e-yeah)

Africa yathu (Oh-oh-ohh-ohhh)
We can achieve all we want to (Oh-oh-ohh-ohhh)
If we unite together as one
Brothers and Sisters under the sun
The world is in our hands; we can never be weak
Now tell em say Africa Must Think
