FIRST VERSE:

When Annie Jones met William Wright, she said: "Let's have a son,
And I'll make him an atchitect, a real famous one."
With Frank not born, but on the way, Annie bought some prints.
Of famous buildings of the world, little Frank got hints.

CHORUS:

About this Mister Frank Lloyd Wright there's quite a lot to tell.
His mother saw him as an architect who would excel.
The fates agreed, he would succeed without a parallel.
So for eternity, the world would be - a better place to dwell.

SECOND VERSE:

At nineteen years, Frank enrolled at the "U." of "W."
Six months later Frank told the professors: "Toodle-Oooh."
Frank headed to Chicago to learn his chosen trade,
But landed his first job, only with his uncle's aid.

THIRD VERSE:

Frank later worked with Sullivan, who taught: "form follows function."
And how Frank could be haughty without feelings of compunction.
Frank met a woman Catherine Tobin, to whon he was bestowed.
In time, she bore six children; Wright's creative juices flowed.

FOURTH VERSE:

To pay his mounting bills Frank took commissions on the side,
Arousing Louis Sullivan who went for young Frank's hide.
Then Frank resigned or else was fired and started on his own,
Which gave birth to the product he called: "The Prairie Home."

FIFTH VERSE:

For twenty years, Frank drew a lot of prairie school designs,
Which improved with age just like the better booze and wines.
Until they got as good as they can get - and then some too,
So what was Frank to do but put designs on someone new!

SIXTH VERSE:

Frank put designs on Maemah, who put her designs on Frank.
And off they went to Europe, but not just for "hanky-pank."
Frank saw it as his destiny, called for from above.
Others cried: "Adultery!" but Frank said: "It's true love!"

SEVENTH VERSE:

Before this romance of romances could be too much furthered,
With an axe, Maemah an six others all were murdered.
Society declared: "That's what happens when you sin..."
Unrepentant, Frank replied:"I'd do it all again."

EIGHTH VERSE:

Sure enough, Frank soon fell in with Marion Noel,
With whom he lived while building the Imperial Hotel.
Life with her was not the sort to make Frank cry "Hosannah,"
For that it took the youthful and exotic Olgivanna.

NINTH VERSE:

Though thirty years his junior, he took her as his lover,
And Frank, creative as he was, soon begot another.
Then Marion, the legal wife, was driven to distraction.
And as revenge is always sweet, she started legal action.

TENTH VERSE:

The law was told that Olgivanna's visa had expired.
According to the statutes, deportation was required.
So, she and Frank went on the lam, but all to no avail.
The long arm of the law reached out and threw them both in jail.

ELEVENTH VERSE:

But all the charges soon wete dropped, and Frank's divorce was granted.
He marrired Olgivanna, while he was still enchanted.
Olgivanna would be last of Wright's fine line of ladies.
For devil as he was, Frank hoped not to go to Hades.

TWELFTH VERSE:

There followed thirty years of architectural success,
In which time, he designed, many an edifice.
About all these accomplishments I will not here digress.
But, asked if Wright was any good, I'll answer with a: "YES!"
