FIRST VERSE:

A monster of a building, created by Wright's hand...
They sprang upon the prairie on fertile Midwest land,
And stretched across the landscape in cantilevered band.
And now from architecture it's the thing that I demand.

CHORUS:

Prairie House, Oh how I love my Prairie House.

(1st) You can take all my money and throw it down a well, but
Let me still afford my Prairie House.

(2nd) Your living situation may cause you aggravation, until you move into a Prairie House.

(3rd) The suburbs may be boring, but them you'll start adoring, once you move into a Prairie House.

(4th) The winters can be bitter cold the summers torrid hot,
As long as I'm within my Prairie House.
The building that Wright called the Prairie House.
It's only in a Prairie House.

SECOND VERSE:

Take your modern buildings which remind me of a cage.
Call the decorators to produce the latest rage.
Fill your house with knick-knacks from the advertiser's page.
I'll take an open floor plan, in green and brown and beige.

THIRD VERSE:

Take your Queen Anne cutsie, and burn her to the ground.
Take every old white elephant and bulldoze them all down.
Move in to a ranch house, like most the folks around.
I'll be sitting pretty in the best house in town.

FORTH VERSE:

The Prairie House idea made a fortune for Frank Wright.
Oak Park got a tourist trade and kept away "the blight."
Owners saw the values of their homes go out of sight.
But most of all, it gave us, a party for tonight.
