I - The stream of Memories
Time is an illusion
All progress that you see
Is flowing down the riverbed
The stream of memories

The savants keep the knowledge
They read your destiny
A place where life goes on, an endless
Stream of memories

The eighteen savants know the place
Where cosmic sequences are linked
For an eternity they come
To read from the liquid gold

It makes me happy, makes me whole
To know my place in the river of gold
The stream of memories,
The universe in me

Time is an illusion
All progress that you see
Is flowing down the riverbed
The stream of memories

The savants keep the knowledge
They read your destiny
A place where life goes on, an endless
Stream of memories

Every 18 days the patterns change,
The news is spread, the flow rearranged.
The savants live a life like idols of lightning and thunder
For they understand this wonder

If I could have one wish for free
I’d have it go on till eternity
For we fear no time, no death, no blow
Our filaments of memory flow on

II - Kyros the keen
The old citadel casts its shadow on the desert,
Kyros the keen frowns at Alvar the wise

What is the greatest invention?
Our Heureka moment that we have achieved
In the last thousand years?
A smug laziness that keeps us from reflecting
Shift responsibilities to the golden stream

Blasphemy! What can be more perfect than a circle?
In endless circles, we follow the universe’s path
What are a thousand years if you don’t fear death?
What is tomorrow if you read the stream?

Oh Alvar don’t confuse the cosmic web
With a lack of free will
This citadel must not be a prison to decisions
A circle can be wooden,
Can be made of stone, of steel, of jewels

Mischief-maker! He counts barely 200 years
Yet he’s affronted the savants one by one
For the sake of progress he’s been experimenting
The mechanics in the depths of our souls is what he wants to see

The old citadel casts its shadow on the desert,
A dim glow, a harbringer of calamity

III - Cut the filament
Deep down in the crypt of the cathedral
Kyros is frantic, but focused with his mind
What is it that stops us from thinking?
A Plethora of thoughts, we’re jaded by past ideas!

I see a way to spark new innovation
Create a child, a mastermind
He must never know of the stream of memories
Anything he needs to learn, I am willing to teach

Time to break the circle
Endless dreams must end
Separate it from the stream
Cut the filament

Kyros canalizes all his might
A golden trickle reluctantly
Rises from the depths of the stream
One strike of the sacred sword will do

Time to break the circle
Endless dreams must end
Separate it from the stream
Cut the filament

Blazing lightning and explosion
The course of the universe must bend
The trickle sparks new life and emotion
Cut the filament

IV - A new soul
Everything has been conserved so far
What has been is now will be
What came out of the separated memory, the savant could not foresee
A whole new form of life, yet so similar to me

Everything he planned went so wrong
They’re not like us, they live their lives alone
I’d like to tell them of the savants and of the stream
But they don’t seem to perceive me

A new soul
Is born, is created out of dust
A new soul
In the blink of an eye death takes it back
A new soul
Full of hope to find a meaning in this life
A new soul
Unnoticed by this universe, left alone and sad

How ironic to call yourself human
When you’re chased by demons so inhuman
Time, age, death and questions
We’ll never tell you where you belong

Why do I only live for 80 years?
Why do we live our lives in constant fear?
Where do we come from and where will we go?
How is it possible that no one knows?

A new soul
Is born, is created out of dust
A new soul
In the blink of an eye death takes it back
A new soul
Full of hope to find a meaning in this life
A new soul
Unnoticed by this universe, left alone and sad

Everything we stand for you deceived
You’re banished from the council of the eighteen
As retribution for your wicked deeds
You shall be crucified right before their eyes

Through the ages your screams remain unheard
Your creation left for dead

Time is an illusion
But you will never see
Thoughts flowing down the riverbed
The stream of memories

The savants keep the knowledge
In their society
You walk this earth to never find
The stream of memories

V - The inevitable human tragedy
Ever since the age of enlightment,
There was a sense of deep despair
Philosophy devised a reasoning
That afterlife is just made up by man

There is no god, there never was, and there’ll never be
Who will be my guide to the other side
An inevitable tragedy seems to be the lot of all mankind

In an attempt to leave a lasting impression
Man strives for the impossible
Science restricts the space for imagination
Without a higher being, who could bring me to justice for my legacy?

There is no god, there never was, and it left a void
Knowledge will not comfort me on the other side
An inevitable tragedy seems to be the lot of all mankind

Mastering quantum mechanics
To shape this world to our needs
Is the position of god still vacant?
This role suits no-one better than myself

There is no god, there never was, but now there will be
In some way, your plan worked out, Kyros!
An inevitable tragedy will be brought forth by mankind and its greed

VI - Confession
A tourist trip to Egypt
To the Valley of the Kings
He’ll see that ancient graveyard
That he knows from the TV

Behind a smaller pyramid
A giant court is seen
To reveal where the savants used to dwell:
The spires of the grand citadel

(Instrumental chorus)

He draws near so curious
This place is so mysterious
How come not even the internet knows
This palace made of stone and of gold?

Above the giant golden gates
A man was crucified
This can’t be true, he’s shocked to see
The man is still alive

Can you see me?
I’d fall onto my knees
Can you hear me?
Listen, my child, to my confession

It’s been thousands of years
Millions of people have been here
Yet you’re the first to look into my eyes
Just when I thought that all my hopes had died

Come here my son, I know why you exist
This place can help blow away all the mist
But first, let me tell you of my foolishness
And of the stream of memories

Can you see me?
I’d fall onto my knees
Can you hear me?
Listen, my child, to my confession

Can you see me?
I’d fall onto my knees
Can you hear me?
Listen, my child, to my confession

VII - Repentance
Merlin can you hear me!
My children gathered here
I’m ready to repent
I flawed the stream of memories

Merlin, don’t ignore them
This is my fault alone
But the humans are suffering
Without your help, this will go on and on and on…

Lead their souls back to the stream!

Alvar my dear friend,
It has been at least a century
Let me admit that you were right
That’s why you’re called the wise
But I’m the keen,
I’m starting to get a new idea

Lead their souls back to the stream!

I promise my improvement
A mere apprentice to the stream
This is my apology
To the council of eighteen

Lead their souls back to the…
Guide their souls back to the…
Lead their souls back to the stream!
Becoming one
A logistic masterpiece to gather the Millions
Lead the humans down to the vast halls
To be confronted with the universe at once
Blinded by the beauty and perfection of the river

Time is an illusion
All progress that you see
Is flowing down the riverbed
The stream of memories

The savants keep the knowledge
They read your destiny
A place where life goes on, an endless
Stream of memories

An unprecedented ceremony
Demands the full force of the eighteen
Savants one by one, side by side
Canalizing all their might

Extract the human memories
With their sudden beg
