A bourgeois bohemian with a creative streak that runs deep, Leonie Mac is an independent Australian singer song-writer. Her eclectic music draws on many musical influences such as pop-rock, dark wave, ambient, world, electronic, and the Bristol sound. Leonie was smuggled into nightclubs and pubs by her older sister when she was only 12. These influential years paved the way for her interest in the music industry and she started performing in her teens. In the late 1990s she was signed to Albert Productions - Australia's oldest and most successful independent recording company. She was the first solo female artist the iconic company had ever signed to their label. She has also been a recipient of funding from The Australia Council for the Arts; she won recognition for her lyric writing in the National Song Writers Competition; and has appeared on several daytime variety TV shows. In her her early days, radio station Double J selected her band for their Band of the Week compilation album. She continues to write and record as an independent artist.
