Her first significant chart hit, it was released in 1988, and was originally recorded for a Coca-Cola commercial in 1987. It was initially released in the United States on January 31, 1988, and subsequently released as a single. The power ballad was released in the UK in October 1988 and climbed to No. 1 and spent three weeks there in November and December 1988, spending 14 weeks in total in the UK Singles Chart.
