Adonis is a pioneering figure in the history of "House Music" and "Acid House," which emerged in the mid - 1980s from Chicago. Adonis was one of the few producers to create tracks that incorporated the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer aka Jackulator in Chicago, which would become the defining sound of Acid House.
Adonis began his career as a musician in the early 1980s playing bass guitar with local bands. He started producing his own tracks in 1985, and his first release became an instant classic “No Way Back”. The track featured a hypnotic bassline, deep electro style vocals by Gary B. and complex drum patterns, creating a raw, stripped-down sound that was perfect for the dance floor.
