I went to the revolution when it came to my hometown.
The movement, she was movin', but time was runnin' out.
Fundies were in the White House and Webster had come down
From the anti-choice packed U.S. Supreme Court.
So I sang for the revolution at a rally in Melville town.
And the emcee at the rally was a woman in a purple gown.
She wore a studded wide-brim, would've done Bella Abzug proud,
And lord, she held the crowd.

Hark to the rebel leaders as they call.

And for Marilyn, Marilyn of Melville Hall.

First time I saw Marilyn was Albany eighty-nine,
Causing the legislators to sign on a dotted line,
Pledges for choice and freedom, and before the day was through,

When Strongen's Pro-Choice Coalition co-hosted the show.

Finally turned up dead, after Medicaid
Restrictions took her choice away.
Televangelists and their politics
Made Jenny Jimenez an orphan.
Praying in the light, bombing in the night,
They wave their roses red but Rose is dead.
