Passion and the Opera is the third single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, released from their album Oceanborn, the single was shipped only in a cardsleeve. The song was played live only between 1999 and 2001, but since 2007 Tarja Turunen, Nightwish ex-frontwoman, is playing the song live with her own band, although when she does, the riff that starts off the song on the album is missing. The single's cover art features the Oceanborn owl with the same scroll as in the cover of Oceanborn and Wishmaster.  more »

Nightwish

Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and vocalist Tarja Turunen, who was replaced in 2007 by former Alyson Avenue singer Anette Olzon. In 2002, original bassist Sami Vänskä was replaced by Marco Hietala, who also took over the male vocalist role previously filled by Holopainen or guest singers. more »
