Oh, people in this world, is sure hard on me
Ah, people in this world, is sure hard on me.
Everywhere I go, somebody try to jam poor me.

This wide, wide world, is so big and round.
This wide, wide world, is so big and round.
Ain't no way, to keep a good man down.

I've been you dog, every since I been your man.
I've been you dog, every since I been your man.
And I'm leavin' you now, you do the best you can.

I've got the Newport blues, haven't had a word to say.
I've got the Newport blues, haven't had a word to say.
I'm down right now, but I won't be down always.
