Vetusta Morla

Vetusta Morla is a Spanish indie-rock band originally from the city of Tres Cantos located near Madrid, Spain. The band was formed in 1998 and took its name from the giant old tortoise Morla, a character in the children's book The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. "Vetusta" means "extremely old" or "decrepit" in Spanish. The history of Vetusta Morla began in the summer of 1998 at the José Luis Sampedro Secondary School in Tres Cantos, Madrid, where a few students decided to perform at the institute's culture week and founded a rock band. Hoy planté tu corazón en llamas
Bajo tierra seca
Lo regué como si hiciera falta
Y arruiné su esencia

Aprendí que un corazón en llamas
Hace daño cerca
Necesita estar lejos del agua
Y de cualquier promesa

Aprendí a no dejarlo caer
Y a mirarlo como una luciérnaga
Siempre cuelga de mi cuello
Como un péndulo en la niebla
Y aunque a veces me enrede los pies
Es la cuerda que mueve el planeta
Ven y préndelo

Si has rozado un corazón de lava
Sabes bien que ciega
Nos empuja hacia las alambradas
Y llama a las fieras

Aprendí a no dejarlo caer
A mirarlo como a una luciérnaga
Y ahora cuelga de tu cuello
Como un péndulo en la niebla
Y aunque a veces me enrede los pies
Es la cuerda que mueve el planeta
Ven y préndelo

Enterré mi corazón de lava
Y calló la orquesta
Lo escondí para que no sangrara
Y sonrojó a la tierra

Aprendí a no dejarlo caer
A mirarlo como a una luciérnaga
Y ahora alumbra nuestro cuello
Con rumor de céntinela
Ojalá no detenga tus pies
Ojalá llame siempre a tu puerta
Ven y préndelo
