Charles Mingus Group was a jazz ensemble led by the renowned American jazz bassist, composer, and bandleader, Charles Mingus. Active from the late 1940s until his death in 1979, Mingus was known for his innovative and complex compositions as well as his powerful and energetic live performances. He worked with various musicians and formed different lineups for his group, which featured talented artists such as Eric Dolphy, Dannie Richmond, and Jaki Byard.
