Not Only Brothers

Nine years ago, first love Was what it felt like, that fall A whole month full of rain Lausanne You were too far away from me When the train left the tunnel on the only sunny day There were a billion diamonds floating on the lake Ten hours every daytime spent Six days a week four months No time to think to much about you But time to write a letter every night Then the ritual of jogging downhill to post the mail And the blissful pain of running up again on the last bit of breath I'm sure that it was true for a while I know it could have been much worse than this Seven running projects, that's the plan Everything I want to do but miss So I wrote a thirty poems in only one night Cause I felt that's what I had to do, for you, and I thought I had a gift Then I took the night train to Brussels cause I hate to fly Fifteen hours kept awake by a drunken Dutchman singing in the aisle Then we loved each other four times in a row until it hurt And sadly viewed the city before I left so desperate on a plane I'm sure that it was true for a while I know it could have been much more than this Seven running projects, that's the plan Everything I want to do but miss These numbers I remember so clearly One out of three phone booths to choose from Every other day spent in sadness The days in between stained with fear So was it, when it ended, a perfect love gone wrong Or just a pretty mismatch of numbers
