My eyes are red when they meet the morning sun, and…
You’ve got to know by now
I’ve come undone.
You talk awhile and I hear from down the hall, when…
Your voice, it drops down low.
I wonder what you know…  you offer no answers.

And though my own, it’s not a burden I can embrace.
And on my own, I look to find my own escape.

The news you brought had the weight to break me down… and
You’re not that used to seeing
The scars I’ve worked around.
Another loss and another chance to say this…
Won’t get the best of me.
(Well,) I guess we’ll see.  I offer no answers…

And though my own, it’s not a burden I can embrace.
And on my own, I look to find my own escape.

I’m away.
Although my feet touch the ground,
I’m away.
Although I see with my two eyes,
I’m (still) away.
Although my bones tie me here, 
I’m (still) away…
In my mind’s own view of a better place…

How many thorns can you let to pierce your skin,
How many holes can you walk around,
Before you fall right in.
Sometimes you want the wind to hit your face, and…
Sometimes to catch your sails
Whenever sadness fails, and you have no answers…

And though my own, it’s not a burden I can embrace.
And on my own, I look to find my own escape.

I’m away.
Although my feet touch the ground,
I’m away.
Although I see with my two eyes,
I’m (still) away.
Although my bones tie me here, 
I’m (still) away…
In my mind’s own view of a better place…

And I’m away, on my own…
And it’s just self-preservation I’m told.
But on the way, to get back home,
I’ll have to deal with these demons I hold.

You find me walking the road in the pouring rain, and…
You ask me what I’m doing,
Well, I can’t explain.
I’ve come to terms with the pain that I’ve been facing, 
And it’s not the end, I know.
But I’ve got no place go, to look for answers…
