Water's been rising for the last couple weeks
This ole boy's been itching for a little bit of fishing in the creek
I just can't help myself, I pack up my pole and net
I go hiking in the country to my hole of honey just to see what I can get
I spent 5 hours in the pouring rain getting snagged on logs
I lost some lures and my temper somewhere down in the rocks
Cut up with scratches in the thickets, I guess it could've gone better
I'll tell you Son, it ain't no fun bushwhacking in inclement weather
Sunshine and clear skies are on the docket that day
I packed my pliers some beer and bear spray
I was hitting on every cast so I knew my luck would turn
About an hour in, dark clouds roll in and I guess I'll never learn

I come back soaking wet, drenched from head to toe
Empty handed more times than not, I know
