The yellow stars of sycamores
Are falling to the floors

The loose idea of stranger
Along the corridor
Her memory's a broken jar

Boxcars follow one by one
Each one to follow him
The thin green leaves of touch-me-nots
Turned inward into knots
Now shadows and her dressing gown
Hang somewhere upside down

Leaves have passed this way before
Or washed up on the shore
The nothing will be born again
To save us from our sin
Commentaries, oceans black
With dangling conversations
