When I was a kid I'd get grades that'd make my momma glow
Even in grade 8 I made the honor roll
So much promise, smart kid and gifted athlete
But it was destined for me and the wrong path to meet
Weed music and girls pulled me in another direction
Then I met blow and we really made a connection

Spent all my time bumping lines and chasing ass
Selling everything to my friends I could to get by
F*ck buying food I only wanted to get high
Friends weren't the only ones keeping me from going broke
I sold my English teacher weed and the vice principal coke
Looking back I cant believe half my life was real
Like how'd I go from straight As to wanting to deal
I know I'm lucky to be where I am at today

I was always a good kid, wanting to go pro in sports or music
Athletic and good grades, I knew that I could do it
Everything I knew went out the window in ninth grade
When I used my math skills and love of weed to get paid
Shit got crazy, and the drugs got harder
I made way more money but I never got smarter
Don't get high on your own supply, I did though
To cover my costs I quickly became a career criminal
I graduated highschool but barely
My odds of living to see 20 were scary
Eleven years later walked the stage with a bachelors degree
Now I'm teaching people English how'd this happen to me
I set the bar high and then climbed over it
And I'm still climbing you know I got more to give
I know I'm lucky to be where I am at today
But I'll never forget it almost wasn't this way
