You know I'm always gonna let you down again
Someones gonna get hurt
Oh you thought I was a knight in armor
Well baby, it gets worse

I always had myself a fantasy
About a woman with a neon soul
And I was on the radio
And you were in the know

Cause you're leaving for the summer, from the city
Back to Alabama, where your money came from.
I smoked so long, I don't think I can rebuild the fire
You're leaving for the summer

Back to Alabama, where the people want you around again
Like a willow in a wanderin' wood
And I see you're on your own again
Like baby I wish I could

But you're leaving for the summer, from the city
Back to Alabama, where your money came from
I smoked so long, I don't think I can rebuild the fire

You said I had a problem in the city
That I should try the water where your mama comes from
I hoped so long, I don't think I can walk on the wire
Goodbye girl
You're leaving
