Allow me to begin by stating that i am a retired regular Of the rowdy and rambunctious Semi-retroactive and always compunctious Night life Yea many a time i have found myself with a Rebel crowd of mashed up misfits Unfit to show their reputus immoral activities To the daylight strife More times than i care to shake a stick at my Less than stellar passing fancies Have shown a plain pattern to retrograde from the sun Howling at the silver moon to Dingy bar room rendezvous In pursuit of what I called fun One particular evening, after a slow dance with my friend jack And a walk with mr walker I went out in pursuit of some shack to slate my hunger I found myself at a mom and pop place Where nerdowells with strange face Stumble from the night with grace To see smiling whites and nameplates Inside the international house of pancakes With nobody at the door to see me to a booth I saw my body to a cozy corner tell you the truth I was hard pressed to decide whether there was a breathing thing in the joint A scratch above my head told me the rats have left the shed And to leave would be a moot point So i decided to stick it out and Wait for fair weather to come my way A light came from the kitchen and so smitten with delight i listened To heavens seven choirs as they ushered in this siren Beauty beyond beauty to compare She said Howdy baby, my names sadie, you can call me crazy if that don't rhyme Nice to meet ya honey, did you come alone, wont you stay awhile, till i go home She had on gold framed glasses Words sweet as molasses And they danced their way so slowly out of black lipstick Eyes that shone like fire turned my soul into a pyre And to think that was enough She had a little diamond piercing boys I think that I'm in love I must say that this bubbly persona had me thrown off kilter Tucked away in her apron was a pack of lucky strikes no filter And her raven hair lay down against her lunar lacquered skin I dare say not even my dreams could have materialized a more beautiful stranger I beheld this dark and dismal goth She was a light and i was a moth And i knew beneath this crystalline figure guarded by opal eyes There was a prize much bigger than a wine cellar, fine, aged, and old I knew this damsel of my distress had a heart that was made of gold By about this time i forgot where i was And decided to mack on this black clod bird and Word by word i worked my way towards getting her number Not in vain was my pursuit when she said Boy you're kinda cute and i said right back at you With a deft hand and a quick imprint of her lipstick She handed me a napkin and said Call me baby, we can go crazy Find your sweetie sadie a little after four Goodbye honey, I hope you give me company Don't you leave me all alone, when i go home To say i was on top of the world would be criminally understated Hell A woman beyond my dreams just crashed her way Into the china shop of my heart and Promised nothing but rosy cheeks and good times But they say all good things must end and This being the goodest of things ended before it ever began For you see as i waited for the clock to strike four I was fated by something scant ignored and rotten to the core As i reached into my pocket like a lover for his locket With a picture of his sweetheart waiting just inside I fingered for that napkin that would bring a nighttime has-been To the beating heart of love tonight Yet i found only a hole and I knew the night had stole Away my baby from my life And from then on i would wake When the sun had westward sank And Search the world for my lost fate Brought to you By the international house of pancakes I lost my baby, said her name was sadie Never even held her and it drives me crazy So goodbye honey, i'm spending all my money Its flapjacks every night trying to find my lovely bunny O cruel fate and drunken pancakes Its better to have loved and lost at least thats what they say
