Luke is a French rock band. The group was formed in Aquitaine (Aquitània in occitan and Akitania in Basque) in 1998 when Thomas Boulard joined the group Spring, consisting of Christophe Plantier and François Jugé. The band's name is derived from the American movie Cool Hand Luke. In 1999, Luke composed a number of demos and a seven track CD. That same year they signed with Village Vert. They released an EP titled Je n'éclaire que moi. more »

There's no way I'm going back
Back to a time when they said I weren't gonna be jack
And I got wrote off by everyone who said I won't last
But now that's the past
Cause I took my chance and shined in the dark
Despite all the odds, it just fuelled the spark
That's burning inside of me
Now I get booked like a library
Difference is they cannot silence me
I'm taking over entirely, everyone's lacking variety
I knew I was destined to be
One of the best in the scene
There ain't no resting or sleep
Can't lie all the pressure keeps getting to me
Cause what's now expected of me
Is a standard I've got to maintain and raise
So I had to reassess and change my ways
Knuckle down and just hope that this patience pays
And find out a way how I can break this cage
I'm not wasting days I'm just taking aim
On the dreams that I've had from a real young age
I'ma do what it takes to try make a change
In this world for the best through the songs I've made
I'm dreaming of success so I guess you could call it a lucrative passion
Get it? LUKErative passion
Who'd of imagined that Luke would be rapping
Or soon to be mapping his way to the top of the industry
Nah none of you did, just me
Well maybe my family did for me
But that's about it you see
The worsts what they wished for me
But all that will change it's a matter of time
Either that or I'm lying but so far I haven't been wrong
It's been so, so long since I've sat to unwind
Cause I'm either at work or I'm working on songs
I try do so much for the people around me
They probably won't realise till I'm dead and gone
I can't be content where I'm at
When I know that the top is the only real place I belong
No easing up I got lots to do
Always on road, always on the move
I make up plans that I follow through
Now there's demand when I drop a tune
I've got a lot that want to prove
But only to me homie, not to you
I've mastered my game and I'll conquer soon
So I don't have time for no rendezvous
I know my ex keeps preing my every step
Better yet she's always keeping check
Of what I've been up to and who I've been seeing
Cause time ain't the same when it doesn't have "me" in
But that's no surprise to be honest
Not every god needs a goddess
Ha
That's either biased or modest
I'll let you decide in your solace
