Things pushed deep down in our belly
Like why we're not ok

I ask how you've been
You say just fine
Closing your mouth
You bite your tongue
Your cheeks swell
Making room
For the all-consuming
Phrases you
Can't keep from pushing out
The words you need to say
Things we've pushed so far down
Punched so far down in our belly

And so I wrote a letter
Telling the truth
It may be in some other reality
Still it's proof
