Jay London

Jay London (born September 12, 1966) is an American stand-up comic, whose one-liner jokes made him a favorite on NBC's Last Comic Standing. Although he did not win either of the two seasons in which he appeared (Seasons 2 and 3, both in 2004), his humble personality and clean comedy made him a favorite among the show's fans. London was born in The Bronx, but grew up in Flushing, Queens, before moving to Los Angeles in his adult years. He was a boxer and a taxicab driver, among other occupations, before becoming a stand-up comic in the 1980s. more »

You make me want to stay
But I keep telling you to go
To be selfish or selfless
I'll never really know

To have more than the rest
Sure I've tried to be the best
But, Anytime I get ahead
I, fall short of being next

Been giving pieces of myself away
Like my soul was tailored infinite
I let emotions of my friends decay
My own being, death is imminent

Not the type where I pass in sleep
But the type where my feelings numb
I swear to god I've never felt this bleak
But at least you're feeling better hun

I think it's selfish to keep you alive
My selfless actions bring tears to my eyes
But at least you'll be by my side
I've become the parasite

I've given in, no more talk or listening
I've realized I'm pretty narcissistic
I'd love to care about your heart and how your art is missing
But my patience's pretty nonexistent

I believe in god, but to a nonbeliever?
What is god, if I can even see her
I'm here praying for the day you find her sympathy
I bet you'll never pray for me either I fear I'm

Being too selfless, can't put it aside
These selfish actions just rip my insides
But at least I can look in your eyes
Knowing I can't even glance in mine

I've been unhealthy, consuming you often
Deceitful in nature, intentions are rotten
I've tried to tell you for years
Scared you'll hurt me when I'm the one you should fear!

Parasitic, damn near a leech
In a world full of zombies, false prophets and thieves
When I was young, my goal was world peace
F*ck all of that no one matters but me!

I kept telling you to stay
You made me want to go
To be alone or unhappy
I'll never really know.

I've used you for some time
You've forgotten who you are
In the mirror you see my face
But I can still see your scars

I'm under your skin
One might call me your soul
I am your mind
Your body's the host
