I sobered up, and packed up my truck
And hit Highway 29
Rollin' through the trees, I just couldn't believe
That I done made it out alive

Hot Texas nights, and Lone Star pints
I was hittin' the road before long
I was gettin' stoned, and thinkin' 'bout my home
And hittin' ABQ before dawn
I was crying, I said
Am I ever gonna go home?
About 11 o'clock, I decided to stop
In the city of old Salt Lake
Eyes wide, I decided to drive
As much more as I could take
Next thing I knew, I was on Highway 2
And so much time had passed
Still on the road, thinkin' 'bout my home
And I still ain't stopped for gas
Still crying
