To make it clear, I didn't ask to be here
I was kidnapped from my mother's hands and motherland
Traveled cross Atlantic, I was once a king
Now I'm a slave to another man
I seen them kill my brothers man
Was once 3/5 of someone who's white
That's 60%, but my land provided you life
Was forced to slave for you in fields and pick cotton
Blacks were reduced to property for white profit
400 years of suffering and oppression dog
I'm in danger when there's Caucasian men involved
Slavery was abolished, but it never really ended dog
Implementing all these government laws to keep us lost
I see the privilege, I see the system, I see the tension,
I see the killings, I see the lynchings of men and women
I feel the hatred, discrimination, this racist nation
I feel the space created due to race association
I walk outside and I'm dealing with trauma
Haunted by memories of what I see on TV
White supremacy wanting to dismember me

Imagine, I'm an older man in my latter 40s
I'm well established, I have a family, I own a company
I give back, and help those who don't have the money
I go to church, I tithe, I pray
I'm a good husband to my wife, I find a way
To make sure that's she's happy and she feels loved
A good dad to my kids, I instill love
Plus on top of that I'm honest, reliable, successful
I pour into others when this life gets too stressful
I got an MBA, I went to an Ivy League
All through the grace of God, and beyond my wildest dreams
But today I'm walking down the street feeling destined
I see a white man and he walks in my direction
We're looking eye to eye and I nod cause I respect him
Then he gives a snarl, he don't approve of my complexion
Grabs at his waist, hatred all over his face
Wields a gun and tells me he's the superior race
I'm on the wrong side of town, I should have reconsidered
Proceeds to call me n*gger as he slowly pulls the
