Green Mountain Boy

The Green Mountain Boys were a militia organization first established in 1770 in the territory between the British provinces of New York and New Hampshire, known as the New Hampshire Grants and later in 1777 as the Vermont Republic (which later became the state of Vermont). Headed by Ethan Allen and members of his extended family, it was instrumental in resisting New York's attempts to control the territory, over which it had won de jure control in a territorial dispute with New Hampshire. Some companies served in the American Revolutionary War, including notably when the Green Mountain Boys led by Ethan Allen captured Fort Ticonderoga on Lake Champlain on May 10, 1775; and invaded Canada later in 1775. In early June 1775, Ethan Allen and his then subordinate… more »

I've had tragedies in my life and it's made me well equipped
I've got people standing above me they just tryna predict
Unpredictable they wonder they what I'm gonna do next
And they ain't told me but I'm pretty sure they place their bets

I had to use that motivation, the source never ran out
And they think I can't do it so I just focus on the doubts
Well I got a message for you and it's loud and it's clear
So don't you ever for a second say it fell on deaf ears
Cause I've been turning up the decibels absorbing all the sound
Cause the clock keeps ticking till I get planted in the ground
And I gotta be honest it gives me a different perspective
Went to school to be a doctor now I'm Working in electric
A choice that I'm satisfied, all too content
And if they say that I lied I would just say get bent
They thought I'd be abusive following tracks that were laid
But I could see the end of the road and it just lead me to my grave
I saw the tombstone and the words that were written
I saw people standing around not a tear was convincing
So I tried to change my attitude but they thought it wasn't real
Was hyperactive kid so they decide to feed me pills
And I cannot stress how many times I wished they were right
But then I suited up my armor I ain't out of this fight
I can still remember the looks that my teachers were shooting
Pity and condescension yeah, their thoughts were polluting
I've been hiding in my world, built a life, setup camp
Can't rely on one sense so the other four are enhanced
I was born with this disability I never volunteered
So what's your excuse when you let this fall on deaf ears

This was never supposed to happen
Someone like me was never supposed to be in an industry like this
If I can do It
I promise you can chase any dream
You just have to decide if you wanna chase that dream hard enough

My father told me young be a fly on the wall
Don't make a sound, just be patient, observant to all
To many people with opinions and you're entitled to that
But don't you make a baseless claim if you don't have all the facts
There's an advantage to the position that find myself in
Ironically no one's sees me cause it's the underdog who wins
I can't imagine my life with perfect hearing all the time
With these bitches and haters, I would be losing my mind
But over the years with adaptation I've come adjust
I Made my life's plan and then I started to construct
I have selective hearing I can turn it off and on
I can have a quiet morning and still be mowing my lawn
Now listen closely cause I'm not saying I enjoy being deaf
I'm in the game, you see I make the rules, cause I am the ref
I see the flag go up, it's up to me to make the call
Make the best interest decision and they seem so appalled
It's like every move I make people are excited to hate
But if I make it to the top they'll say "I knew you'd be great"
I hold my finger in the air, yeah the tallest of digits
You can try to censor me but you will never prohibit
The movement I have created will never cease in momentum
So when you see my messenger you know exactly who sent em'
I hope you pick apart the song I know it seems kind of dense
Like the hearing I got left equates two over ten
I used to wish everyday that I was normal like you
Then I found my identity and I'm no longer confused
I find what makes you different also tends to build your up worth
Don't call of the party just yet cause there is still time for the search
I'm just tryna be honest I hope you see that's how I feel
I'm not a crazy psychopath that has an olive at last meal
I got little hearing left I will not leave it to waste
And I'd you think I'm joking, take a second look at my face
I'm not offended or upset honestly I could care less
But if I never spoke up it would be my biggest regret
Pick your battles and that's how that's how you win the war
If you educate yourself then the cycle gets restored
Can only blame you if you're refusing to change
Forget the baggage, grab a marker, we can white out the stains
I promise negative comments they will never disappear
I hope you take a page from my book and let it fall on deaf ears
