Grandma's Boys

Grandma's Boys is the barbershop quartet that won the 1979 SPEBSQSA International Contest. In the summer of 1968, a quartet of New Trier High School students from the North Shore of Chicago rode a Greyhound bus to Cincinnati, checked into the "Y", sat in the back row at the international contest and listened in awe as quartets like the Western Continentals, Mark IV, and Golden Staters won the top medals. They had recently named the quartet, and 11 years later, when three of the original four ran onstage in Minneapolis to claim their own gold medals, it still bore the name Grandma's Boys. I'm sitting on my bed
and watch out for a light
It's so dark inside
I know for sure I'm not alright
What is this emptiness
What is this plague that's haunting me
When was the last day
The last day I could feel something
No more fireflies which lighten up the sky
I'm out of tears
The last glass squeezed me dry
My memories drowning in my mind
No call for help
I resigned
There are no more fireflies
Which lighten up the sky
Lost in a hopeless thought
A shape without a heart
The silence surrounding me
It's tearing me apart
I smashed a firefly
It's running down my wall
It's shine exposed myself
Which uncovered my downfall
No more fireflies which lighten up the sky
I'm out of tears
The last glass squeezed me dry
My memories drowning in my mind
No call for help
I resigned
There are no more fireflies
Which lighten up the sky
I'm all alone with all my sins
Now nothings set me free
Numbing myself
To make sure I won't feel
It was an accident
But I destroyed my fireflies
There's no more light
There's no more light
There's no more light
No more fireflies which lighten up the sky
I'm out of tears
The last glass squeezed me dry
My memories drowning in my mind
No call for help
I resigned
There are no more fireflies
Which lighten up the sky
No more fireflies which lighten up the sky
I'm out of tears
The last glass squeezed me dry
My memories drowning in my mind
No call for help
I resigned
There are no more fireflies
Which lighten up the sky
