Mom and dad had a cabin on a pond
I used to play in the water all day long
'Til the sun went down, you know it never felt wrong
Out on the pond, kisses from the sun
I used to sit on the shore, and try to count each one
As they flew across the water, oh, those ripples could run

But time went by, and my folks got old
It broke my heart when they told me it was sold
The cabin's gone, it's a long time gone

Memories, calling me back home
But how can it be home to me
When I can't go back? Where's the sense in that
And yet memories call to me
All it takes is sound or smell
And I'm right back there under the spell
Of the cabin on the pond, where my heart belongs

The moon shines bright in the dead of night
Swirls of fog dance like water sprites
A loon cries out  and then takes to flight
Water like glass as she flies away
Her reflection on the surface seems to say
A whispered goodbye, until another day

But another day will never come
I'll never again hear her lovely song
The cabin's gone, it's a long time gone
