There's a place down at the sea, I'll take you there someday
But we have to go back quite away
The spirit got washed away by a generation's time
Their selfishness matched all their pride
But if I knew any better, I'd stop dreaming away
Once the good times are gone, they're gone for good

The one I knew in days of old
Where no one cared if you had rags or gold
Just ask the turtles they were there
You'd race down that big hill in your just okay car
Everyone knew you at the sandbar
But the old money came and went, and selling out was back in style
If not for the whitewash, I'd stay a while
But the wagon's rusted down and the sun has changed
If that's what growing up is who's to blame
