Ill-Advised

Ill-Advised: Presidential Health and Public Trust is a 1992 book by historian Robert Hugh Ferrell examining politically motivated cover-ups of serious medical issues afflicting U.S. presidents while they were in office. Although Dwight Eisenhower is the main focus of the book, it covers the presidency for a century, from Grover Cleveland's mouth cancer in 1893 to the health of George H.W. Bush, then-current president when the book was first published. All of these instances, Ferrell argues, raised serious questions about the fitness of each president to hold office, as well as whether the presidents and their physicians violated the public trust in keeping the incidents secret. more »

At the end of a bottle
Whispers rebound like an earthquake
Won't you come down, come down
By the edge of the water
Jesus walks like a zombie
Better run now, run now
She's killing my hope
Like a postcard to nowhere
Return to sender
I'm spinnin' my wheels
Goin' one-twenty in the slow lane
Devil's on my shoulder
Chyrons disilluminate
Paychecks on the way
Pennies on the dollar
I contemplate my life in flames
All I feel is pain
You always told me
It was an impossible dream
Bitter medicine prevents disease
Bygone providence contends
With what remains
Adjunct recombinants
Embrace the plagues
Tears at the filament
There's no one left to save
Don't you know there's nowhere else to be
So won't you come down, come down
Pretty girl there's no one left to save
So you better run now, run now
How can I heal
When all these bones are broken
I keep on prayin'
But God
She isn't home, man
I tried to make up
But I don't do fake love
She's wastin' my time
But she's got me down
Cheap nails from eight to seven
I'm runnin' these lines
Like a white kid Lebron
Won't stop 'til armageddon
Mystic shamans in a lucid dream
Rose petals at your feet
You can talk about
Cry about it
A big disgrace
On a lost highway
If I die today
Guess we're doomed anyway
Bitter medicine prevents disease
Bygone providence contends
With what remains
Adjunct recombinants
Embrace the plagues
Tears at the filament
There's no one left to save
Don't you know there's nowhere else to be
So won't you come down, come down
Pretty girl there's no one left to save
So you better run now, run now
With you I lose control and
It's no surprise you're broken
But I know you're too far gone to save
So won't you come down, come down
Come down, come down
Come down, come down
I know you're too far gone to save
So won't you come down, come down
How can I heal
When all these bones are broken
And I know you're too far gone to save
But won't you come down, come down
