A little while later, a voice overheard

Mom tries to plead, dear, you're being so abusive
But Dad shouts grab some snacks for these losers
In a flash Marie knows that she has to flee
That's the voice from last night it just has to be!
Mike hands her stuff and she runs to a payphone
But Tommy's mom's crying that he hasn't come home
Next day Mr J reveals a plot so evil
His reporter friend thinks cops slayed two local leaders
Who were gonna prove the State's been taking homes illegal
Jake blames it on gangs, man they seem so overeager
In that moment Marie knows she has to tell him
Hands him the roll and says get this film developed
Then Tommy texts her from the phone on the corner
Don't ask where I got it just show that reporter
As she leaves Mike appears with her sketch book
She finds it's odd since she never took it out
He tries to apologize for what happened last night
But she's already dreaming of painting black on flat white
What the hell Tommy, is ya brain freakin' cooked?
Think about your mom, she's the one who's really shook
Hey I made it to my block but I'm too smart for the heat
See that same DT cruiser was there parked on my street
I knew getting bopped at the trestles would come back to haunt us
Then Marie drops the bombshell that leaves Tom astonished
The kids realize they can stop this sinister plan
We gotta do something–right after we finish these cans!

The cop calls it in and gives a piss poor pat down
He detains them for back up to emerge from the background
Marie sees Sgt. White and thinks what's the chance he knows?
He smiles, we pinned Gata and Primo with a tip from Nancy O!
Tommy blurts, we promise we won't drop a dime!
Time will tell, son, so come with us, we got the time
Mr J finds Lucy in the darkroom lab
Wondering why Marie gave him pics of cartoon cats
Luz sheds light on the photos hung by the bath station
Frames of cops covering up an assassination
He could call the cops or he could call reporters
Now folks fill the streets saying F– law and order!
Mike finds him in the crowd: I know where they took Marie
We can save her and Tom if we book it, hurry!
Maroon squints as the hood and cuffs are removed
The Sergeant laments he just can't trust the two
As he aims his Sig-nine, she reacts in time
And sprays his face white and swings her bag at his spine
Tommy is in shock it all happened so fast
They find files on corruption White has in the bags
White's writhing on the floor, cackling like Skeletor
Tommy kicks in his jaw and pushes up the cellar door
The duo exit into a yard of a triple decker
There's people in the streets and Mike attempts to help her
She dusts of her shirt, Marie never needs no saviors
The cops arrest White to a cheer from the neighbors
The next day she gets a visit from Internal Affairs
All we needed were those photos to have them locked up for years
And the folks displaced receiving total reparations
Even a mural of Marie on the local police station
But... there's only honor in the streets
That night she's out with Tommy, painting another masterpiece
Our hometown hero, a true All City daughter
Maroon Carhartt, legendary graffiti bomber!
