That ever has been pulled
And nothin' much amazes me these days

It feels just like the last one
As foolers and the fool
Plant their feet atop their x's, as expected
In disgrace

Of sentiments and tears and fierce reaction
They get ghostlier on closer observation
But, zoomin' out, there's room for doubt and consternation

Each one rises to their league
To the peak of their fatigue
Then they sink beneath the leaves and wait for spring

I'm an awful lot like them
Closer than I thought I'd been
Against the wind, I can't pretend I'm evergreen

Tell me what's today's outrage?
Are we stuck on the same page?
Above the fold there ain't much changin'
'Cept the names of the assailants

It a gets old yet still so juvenile
Maturity ain't provable
In the court of public shame
That mad gavel has no aim

Yet it always hits it's mark
It will find you in the dark
Because no hex is more infectious than the blame

It never fails it's steady rounds
Amid the wails and heady sounds
All the alibis are lies. It's everyone

It is still an active scene
It was never that serene
That fateful reel of yellow tape just won't stay spun
