Staying rooted in a book and going overboard with faith

Looking back I see my zealousness kept me bound up in chains
My relationships were strained for that, I feel ashamed
Hella lame I admit it I know I've hurt a lot of feelings
My behavior was offensive and prolly damaged hella friendships
I'd love to blame religion and other mental conditions as the problem
But the way that you solve em is looking inward
Accept responsibility for my selfish decisions by acknowledging my errors then I can go back and fix them

Believing in the power within considered prideful

My heart growing colder to love holding to doctrine
Internal struggle causing external problems

The things she used to teach us and the life she tried to model
She was always bout the love when I was all about the dogma
And even through the drama you would always keep it solid
Never holding it against me cause you knew just where my heart was
Damn sorry for the pain I caused you
