Chances are the nearest star's a billion lives away
If that's the case, it's better to space our time in hours and days
That being said, what lies ahead won't get in the way
And so then, we can pretend and just think about today

We are so strange, you know, we love our comfort zones
But in the wider picture all the comfort's all our own
A runaway train in distain for years and years and years
And strangely as we gain and gain
It's such a shame we only measure pain in human tears
But it's there whenever there's a shake or a shiver in the loss of a living soul
And as we win, the world she spins, spiralling down the hole

Another self-inflicted wound got while shooting for the moon
To go with all the other scars, got while shooting for the stars
Burnt and come all undone from flying too close to the sun
Broken, bruised, twisted out of tune from another stupid self-inflicted wound

Falling in love was easy. I've always been that way inclined
A simple look that simply took me into another life
Head long into the throng of love songs and cheers
Where bells rang and we all sang, and I really wanted to be here
And day by day, how you say, life just turns out that way
And though it's never anybody's fault, it all came to a stumbling halt
No there was never ever any mortal sin, just sailing too close to the wind
And there may have been some scattered tears as love's momentum disappeared
But love is what it is, and it's left me here
