Fell head over heels for this poet
Thought I'd never have the chance
Bought him a pendant a gift
That wrapped around his hand
Walked up to him after a show and said
Hey, I got you a present
Tried to mask it as a thank you for inviting me into his VIP section
He laughed and held out his wrist
We locked eyes in the club
And all I could see
Was a glow of melanin all over his skin
Full lips, Complimenting his face
His eyes mixed with excitement and serious
The smirk he gave told me he wanted it
Little did he know it was more than this I desired to give him
I imagined being face down ass up
Lips hovering getting contact high from marijuana blunts
I'm clumsy, so I went slow
And fastened the gift
Twisting the pendant to show the engravement I chose for him
Spoken Word
Embellished, Gold plated
An intent bracelet
I let go
Nervous
Second guessing what I just did
He probably has other women
And it looks as if poetry is the only thing he's truly interested in
WTF did you just do
As he walked away
We looked around the crowd
To see if anyone noticed
I stuck around, peeping transactions at the show
I saw some ladies run up and give him hugs
"I'm not the only one", I thought
And I left, with my head held high
While my heart once with butterflies
Sunk low
That was the start to an adventure of my poet love
Fell head over heels for this poet
Thought I'd never have the chance

A pendant that wrapped his hand
I remember the first time I saw him
His song of words captivated me
I let him know I wanted him then
But it was subtle
