We all look like a bunch of happy people around each other
But inside we got these demons that we facing
Quick to lie and smile to a stranger when they ask me how I'm doing

I remember when I worked this super market job
And just had dreams of being big in entertainment
I used to work with this kid John he'd always put my music on
And gas me up and tell me how I'm gonna make it
Every time I saw him man the dude just seemed so happy
And we always had some awesome conversations
It really hit me by surprise when John had overdosed and died
I didn't know he fought addiction f*ck that's crazy RIP

Got a million different things that I can do that will distract me from it
Some of us get high and some just hide behind an avi
Some can't focus in on nothing til they pop a couple addys
All these deeply rooted issues they're all tough to explain
I understand how it's easy just to run from the pain
And as life takes its toll it really fucks with your brain
So over time it just gets harder now to function the same I know it
None of it is simple we could only imagine
Some days I'm at the crib probably overreacting
Writing sad songs about it shit you know how it happens
I try listening and showing compassion
