My September Morn

The grayness of the dawn peeking through the trees
Taps my covered eyes to waken them from sleep
Then lures me from my slumber to the window on my world
To watch the day begin to dance as the curtain's pulled and furled

The gray horizon turns to blue as the sun begins to rise
And reaches toward the nearest cloud above her in the sky
The cloud is set afire by the flaming yellow orb
As she greets the fading flowers of this late September morn

September Morn, September Morn
Is the feeling that I get when awakened by love's kiss
September morn, September morn
Is the hope of every lover, and every lover's wish

Soft and fragrant breezes breathing with the dawn
Shake the Autumn droplets shimm'ring on the lawn
The willow starts her weeping as yellow teardrops fall
Forest trees soon will mourn to join her one and all

Birds are staged on branches singing their encore
Squirrels chatter in applause as if demanding more
Nature's pace is slowing as days of Fall grow short
I love the peace and calm that comes with each September morn

September Morn, September Morn
Is the feeling that I get when awakened by love's kiss
September morn, September morn
Is the hope of every lover, and every lover's wish

The smell of coffee brewing now added to the scene
Anticipates the brand new day and what is yet to be
Alone at the window, I view the eastern sky
And smile for I know my love will soon be my side

Some may feel a sadness as seasons come and go
Especially when they're traveling life's seasons all alone
Though summer's day has ended, no need to be forlorn
For I have my love beside me on this September morn

September Morn, September Morn
Is the feeling that I get when awakened by love's kiss
September morn, September morn
Is the hope of every lover, and every lover's wish

The sun has reached her zenith, the breeze has ceased to blow
Birds and squirrels are silent, the coffee has gone cold
The trees are standing tearless, my smile is no more
For winter's death has stole my love and my September morn
