The Thought

"The Thought: A Logical Inquiry" is an essay by Gottlob Frege. It was published as "Der Gedanke. Eine logische Untersuchung" in the philosophy journal Beiträge zur Philosophie des deutschen Idealismus (English: Contributions to the philosophy of German idealism) in 1918. It was republished in Mind in English in 1956. In it, Frege argues against idealism and for platonism about thoughts, or propositions. Frege says ideas are private, but thoughts are public. Frege said that such abstract objects were members of a third realm. Frege also argued for a redundancy theory of truth. Quoting Frege, "The thought, in itself immaterial, clothes itself in the material garment of a sentence and thereby becomes comprehensible to us. We say a sentence expresses a thought." more »

It can scare you away if you've adopted the fake
Ancient displays of what you're never to prey on
Still don't taper the rate at which you face devastation
All the emotional weight of your project in crayon
Relegated to the cover so your stage reputation remains
I shouldn't have to explain the rate of rapid decay
Skills you heard graduated from the Action of Bay
Back to basics if you're not invading the path that I take
I would've made it but the average ask for asses that shake
And that ain't a complaint directed at the current scene
Staking claims on currency and curves that make the haters seethe
Is a lane that got created around 1983
And all the legends seem sedated, just beration never empathy
I know the landscape frustrating if you only looking
At the man's plate covered in the Hollandaise and Duck Gravy
F*ck's sake, how you gonna say you've had enough
Of a generation you ain't ever gave a buck, Shady?
What is safety but luck? I'm gonna pace me a rut
Until I'm aging gracefully or the stage lights cut
I'm gonna rage righteously until my pain lightens me
Better brace yourself tightly when it's time for the flood
