It was June thirtyieth the year 1987
My sister couldn't make it I believe she's in heaven

Pen and pad in hand had to write the first line
It was kind of difficult but it was time to get mine
Growing up none of my kinfolk was born lyrical
GOD bless me by HIS grace I sound quite impetuous

Responding to the calling by HIS purpose I am driven
A mere mortal HE chose hence everyday I flop
Please never get it twisted this ain't dreadlocks

But when it's all said and done a pen and pad is all I've got

Some friends from my foes it's hard to tell apart

I serve the best pound of my flesh to those who stab me in da back
That's the nature of man no need for a heart attack
Garnished with love I cut them deep in the front
Tailored with truth I'm that real no need to front
I was hoping to be rocking with the team I started grinding with
Mama said you were born alone had to acknowledge it
Self motivated CHRIST initiated never debated
Spitting truth to power heart and soul originated
Clean hearts open doors in spite of all the flaws
The LORD searches the heart of man

It's basically a gift and a curse contemplations
It's rather unfortunate people put me on a pedestal
Calculating my every step including the minuscule
I'm a mere man many times I will fail you
I've seen it all before even in times when they hail you
I never get comfortable always staying accountable
Get to know a brother you will know that I'm approachable
Deeply rooted within only lies a broken man
CHRIST my surgeon fail to please society I'm just coping man
An anomaly organised religion don't  bother me
Living my life to please my Maker alone, that's evident
Seeking to inspire before I retire eminent
Can't be buried I'm a seed

GOD uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise
HE turned my mess into a message story of my life
