Invisible Friends

Invisible Friends is a 1989 children's play by the British playwright Alan Ayckbourn. Often seen as a companion play to Woman in Mind, it is about a teenager, Lucy, who escapes her unhappiness with her own family by reviving her imaginary childhood friend, Zara. Lucy's family, however, do not approve of this imaginative thinking. Zara helps Lucy to make her family invisible, and Lucy feels much happier. However, Zara outstays her welcome and manipulates Lucy into catering and cleaning for her and her brother Chuck and father Felix. Lucy manages to defeat Zara, Chuck, and Felix and make her family visible again, and they begin to pay more attention to her. more »

I got my head up
Tryna keep my mind from thinkin' too much
Guess I threw away all of my good luck
Now everything around me's falling down
It's falling down, yeah
I waited patiently
For some goddamn peace of mind
Then it came to me
Everything's alright
It's gettin' better
Everything's about to turn around
Got my head up
Tryna keep myself from falling
Down, down, down, down
When it rains ya it pours
And it comes back for more
Tryna get ya
But I guess you can say that these days I've been
Getting better
I want a rebate
Pay me back for all the time that I waste
Growing up has never been that easy
I'm sick and tired of always falling down
I'm falling down, yeah
I waited patiently
For some goddamn peace of mind
Then it came to me
Everything's alright
It's gettin' better
Everything's about to turn around
Got my head up
Tryna keep myself from falling
Down, down, down, down
When it rains ya it pours
And it comes back for more
Tryna get ya
But I guess you can say that these days I've been
Getting better
Better I'll make it out through the storm
Better I'll make it out on my own
It's gettin', it's gettin' better
Everything's about to turn around
Got my head up
Tryna keep myself from falling
Down, down, down, down
When it rains ya it pours
And it comes back for more
Tryna get ya
But I guess you can say that these days I've been
Getting better
It's gettin' better
Everything's about to turn around
Got my head up
Tryna keep myself from falling
Down, down, down, down
When it rains ya it pours
And it comes back for more
Tryna get ya
But I guess you can say that these days I've been
Getting better
