The road was long and winding
The moon was shining bright
Her skin felt warm like a summer breeze
But her heart was cold as ice
Well, she left home that morning
Hound dogs on her trail
No one ever believed she'd have done it
She never thought she'd live to tell the tale of the butcher's son
He had charm and money
She had style and grace
All the little girls lined up outside his door
All the little boys, they dreamed about her sweet sweet face
Then one day it happened

Time rolled on
The fire began to fade
She worked long hours in the butcher shop
He fooled around all over town, he thought he had it made

One night while he was drunk asleep
She slipped down to the butcher shop
Sharpened up the biggest blade in the whole damn place
Went upstairs and split his head wide open with one big chop
Now she's on the run
She just left it all behind
Freedom never tasted so bitter sweet
She ain't sure where to go, or what she might find
