Stark monoliths, each a tribute to the feral gods of this lonely place
Denizens of a world untouched by the warmth of day
Each branch reaches toward the same direction in which they gaze
Toward their own reflections in the frozen lakes

Each one focused on their own familiar shape

Threats of death whispered among them coalesce into a roar
And I fall on bended knees on command of a language I've not heard before

Blood pounds within my ears as the cold permeates my flesh
And, as I'm sealed into this resting place, I welcome death

I understand the end is near as the surface reflects my frozen stare
But in my weary state of mind, I can't force myself to care
I come to know the life contained in this place I once thought bare
Concealing all who wandered through the paths I've shared

Never to acknowledge my own internal strife
I'll rest here ever-convinced the path I chose was right
