And then we went down the other side
Into the valley, where the stream runs down, through a tunnel, out to the river
And there, we stood in the moonlight, and not for the first time, went over it all

It's not so much what we gave, but what we took
It's not so much what we saved from the fire
But what we looked like in the mirror the next day
It's not that the year was long, or hard, but that we lived through it
And in the end, we were closer together than we had been before
We were more, after this, than we had been before

You bring light into my worn out life
You, by being yourself, shine abiding light into my worn out life
Let's give up grasping at the facts
Let's just let go of the facts
Let's practice finding our balance
Let's make a list of our differences
And then burn the whole thing down, paint our faces with the ashes
